
SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 9
(By Senators Deem and Boley)
Congratulating the Parkersburg High School "Big Reds" football team
for winning the state's 1999 Class AAA football championship.

Whereas, The Parkersburg High School football team had an
outstanding 1999 football season, finishing with a 10-0 record; and

Whereas, The perfect regular season record qualified the
Parkersburg High School "Big Reds" to participate in the 1999 Class
AAA state championship playoffs; and

Whereas, The Parkersburg High School football team competed in
and won the Class AAA state championship, ending its season with an
undefeated 14-0 record; and

Whereas, The ecstatic and overwhelming enthusiasm of "Big
Reds" fans sent Parkersburg and Wood County into a mass of
jubilation and celebration; and

Whereas, The tremendous 1999 football season is credited to
the outstanding coaching ability of head coach Marshall Burdette
and his coaching staff, along with the athletic ability and
sportsmanship of each team player; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby commends the 1999 Parkersburg High
School football team for an excellent season and for bringing the
1999 Class AAA championship title to the home of the "Big Reds"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate commends head coach Marshall
Burdette and his coaching staff, along with the athletic ability
and sportsmanship exhibited by each player of the Parkersburg High
School football team during their outstanding 1999 regular season
and for winning the 1999 Class AAA championship; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
of copy of this resolution to the principal of Parkersburg High
School, the head coach of the "Big Reds" and to each member of the
1999 Parkersburg High School football team.
